Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy in Ann Arbor & Across Michigan

Therapy is a restorative space where you can untangle from external burdens, step into your inherent power, and engage in transformative healing. Whether you are navigating a major life transition, experiencing academic or professional burnout, or seeking deeper insight into your identity and relationships, Homa Psychology offers a supportive, affirming environment to land and grow. I provide both in-person individual therapy in Ann Arbor and virtual therapy across Michigan.

A Relational & Evidence-Based Approach

I approach therapy with a fundamental belief: healing does not happen in a vacuum. To know you is to honor the complex intersection of your culture, family dynamics, systemic realities, and lived experience.

My clinical practice is relational, collaborative, and grounded in multicultural counseling and liberation psychology. I integrate concrete, evidence-based tools—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—with a deep exploration of the systemic factors keeping you in distress. (Often, distress is an understandable reaction to chronic invalidation or systemic inequities rather than an individual defect.) Through unlearning harmful narratives, practicing behavioral strategies that support your daily wellness, and reclaiming your authentic self, our work together will honor your inherent dignity and promote your right to thrive.

What I Bring to Our Work

Finding the right therapeutic fit is essential. Here is what you can expect when working with me:

Lived Experience as an Immigrant: As a first-generation Iranian American psychologist, I bring firsthand understanding to the complexities of acculturation, intergenerational dynamics, and living between cultures. I am proud to offer therapy in both English and Farsi.

Insight into Pressures of Academia: Before earning my doctorate in Counseling Psychology, I spent three years as a Ph.D. candidate in applied physics. This non-traditional path gives me a deep, personal understanding of the intense pressures, burnout, and imposter syndrome students and professionals face across both STEM and the humanities.

Comprehensive ADHD Care: Many providers offer either therapy or testing. As a psychologist trained in both, I bring a holistic approach—providing formal diagnostic clarity through comprehensive assessments alongside targeted therapy to develop sustainable executive functioning strategies.

An Anti-Oppressive, Liberation-Focused Lens: My clinical work and professional advocacy are rooted in social justice. We will move beyond the traditional “medical model” of diagnosing what is broken. Instead, we will acknowledge how systemic inequities and external pressures impact your well-being and actively foster your capacity for resistance, reclamation, and deep healing.

An Ecosystem of Care: Healing happens in community. In addition to individual therapy, my practice offers interpersonal process groups and affinity spaces (such as our upcoming Fathers’ Group) so you can practice relational skills and build support in real-time. Because true care extends beyond the therapy room, I have also cultivated a trusted network of local practitioners across various disciplines, allowing me to provide meaningful referrals and holistic recommendations to support your overall well-being.

Accessible, Flexible Logistics: Navigating the logistics of therapy shouldn’t be an additional stressor. To make care as accessible as possible, I accept both insurance and self-pay, and offer the choice between comfortable in-person sessions at my Ann Arbor office or secure virtual appointments for residents across Michigan.
